Switch CEO, Dr. Andy Palmer highlights the importance of net carbon zero EV manufacturing at the MOVE mobility event in London.

On Tuesday 9th November, Switch Mobility showcased their Metrocity EV at the two day MOVE 2021 event. CEO and Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Andy Palmer, was also invited to give a keynote speech. During his session 'The carbon zero heroes: how sustainable mobility is being reimagined', Dr. Palmer explained the difference between electric vehicles and net carbon zero vehicles, and the importance of tackling emissions at every stage of the manufacturing process.

“I think my key point is that EV is not necessarily net carbon zero, and there’s a lot of confusion around it. That’s really the goal of the industry over the next ten years or so, it’s got to get the carbon out of the manufacturing. It can be done Switch is doing it today, as a bus manufacturer and a van manufacturer it's net zero carbon.”

“As an automotive industry, our track record means that we are the ones pioneering that move. Let’s put in place a blueprint and a framework for how we can get there.”
