How will businesses from Leeds drive forward the city’s economic growth?
Yesterday, Switch’s CEO and Executive Vice Chairman, Dr. Andy Palmer was invited to speak on the first day of the Leeds City Region Trade and Investment Showcase 2021, in a session titled: Leeds City Region: An economic recovery fuelled by hi-tech, hyper scale-up, trailblazing entrepreneurs.
During the session, Dr. Palmer shared how Switch Mobility, as a net zero public transport manufacturer headquartered in Leeds, is ideally positioned to help the region in this journey. He discussed the potential for growth in the global LCV and Bus EV market and how Switch, as a local manufacturer with a highly skilled workforce, is playing a crucial role in developing the technologies that will deliver a net zero society. Dr. Palmer stressed the urgency of this transition, with deep emissions reductions required by 2030, and highlighted the role that decarbonised public transport can play in reducing congestion, air pollution and emissions.
“In this session you will meet the tech-trailblazing entrepreneurs behind our region’s most exciting new inward investments. They will share how Leeds City Region provides the digital edge when it comes to accelerating the widespread deployment of their future technologies.” (Event programme)
Switch Mobility is one of the key companies demonstrating why the Leeds region is destined for growth. It is at the forefront of innovation in zero carbon transport, supporting the government’s decarbonisation and levelling up visions, as well as creating high quality British jobs and boosting the country’s economy.
From 7-15th September 2021, the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (Leeds LEP) and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority are running nine panel sessions across five days. These sessions aim to “introduce some of the most exciting new businesses that have invested in the region” and highlight new investors and international trade opportunities.
